Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Many of you know October is Breast Cancer awareness month. As a woman who has fibrocystic breast disease, surgical biopsies and cyst removals, this disease is never far from my mind. But so far, I've been one of the lucky ones whose "lumpy-bumpy" breasts are noncancerous.

With all these things on my mind, I wanted to give away four Victoria's Secret gift card to just celebrate all things feminine. No, no purchase necessary. Just stop by and leave a comment on any of my blogs and that will do. I'll draw a name each week.

And remember, think pink!

Sydney,

This is very noble of you. My oldest son (step-son) lost his mother to breast cancer four years ago. Last year we found out that her sister is now battling the same disease.

Linda!

I tell you, it's never far from your mind. Every lump, bump...could it be the one? I have had no one in my family with this disease but still, I'm very aware I could always be next.

My heart goes out to your son. I just lost my mother in May to lung cancer so i definitely feel for him and with him.

Hi, I'm thankful that no one in my family has breast cancer. I hope that women should be aware of it. Spread the news!

Sydney:
I had uterine cancer. In may I had an examination and all was clear. By March of the following year I had a tumor the size of a grapefruit. The lesson here? Don't let examinations go too long. And don't make excuses. Just go get the tests. (-:
BTW, cancer put me back on the road to writing. Sometimes good comes from the worst events in our lives.
Best,

What a wonderful way to bring about awareness. My mom had breast cancer and after being assured that they had gotten it; it came back in the same exact spot a year later. It is such a frightening disease and I pray that we continue to make headway in fighting it.

Sydney,
My sister was diagnosed with breast cancer this past January, has had the surgery and is back at work and doing great, so naturally I'm happy that you're helping to spread the word about this horrible disease.

My husband lost his aunt to breast cancer. She is the first one in the family to have breast cancer. I just read this about breast cancer last week.

Alcohol may be good for your heart in moderation, but drinking as little as half a glass of wine a day may raise a woman's risk of developing breast cancer, a new study shows.

Cancer is something that is very common on both sides of my family. Right now my younger sister is battling Non-Hodgkins lymphoma. She has completed 2 months of chemo and doing ok right now, thank God.

What a generous and thoughtful thing to do! I need to get my exam scheduled. I've been putting it off.
