Satisfy Me Hits Shelves this month.
Satisfy Me, which contains my smoking novella Her Wildest Fantasy, hits shelves Dec 26th!
Checkout the synopsis:
Give a woman what she wants…give a woman what she needs…and then, give a woman a little something she never expected. In these three, so-hot-they’ll-scorch-your-fingers-turning-the-pages novellas, the men are smokin’, the women are on fire, and the satisfaction? Baby, it’s guaranteed…
Her Wildest Fantasy by Sydney Molare
At the ultra-private sex club Video, the password is “Hedonist.” It’s a place where nothing is forbidden, and you can get your freak on for anything the extensive menu offers. For Sonata, the first time at Video is erotic, eye-opening, beyond all her wildest fantasies—and her first time will definitely not be her last…
Take the plunge and get burned. I've got some water to cool you off! Take care~ Syd

Welcoming fellow author, Ruth Sadi El, to the stage...
I recently interviewed author friend, Ruth Sadi El. See what this amazing sister has to say:
1. At what point in your life did you know you were a writer?
I was born a poet but, I didn't realize I was a writer until I joined a writer's group called, The Charlotte African American Writers & Poets. They had just started a pilot novel and had an opening for one of the chapters so I jump to the challenge. I surprised myself being able to come up with a whole chapter from just the title. The head of the writer's group told me a little about what the chapter should be about and I took it from there. It was challenging but, I enjoyed being able to use my creativity and come up with character and a story plot from beginning to end with the help of my husband who is also my muse he had a lot of creative input as well. I use him as my audience and when he liked what I wrote I knew is was a winner.
2. With all the criticism writers receive on a constant basis, is there one particular moment or episode when you felt you should just stop and be finished with this career?
There were many moments in writing this chapter I wanted to stop because having my work critiqued was painful. I literally took it personal without realizing this was to help mold me into a better writer. It took me a little while to acquire a tougher skin and learn to roll with the critiques. I can't say that it still doesn't pinch my nerves but, I am not a quitter.
The required word count for the chapter was 12,500 words and the novel we wrote was a collection of short stories about the life of one main character and six writers which created the life of Belinda Norris of "Show A Little Love."
Writing Poetry is in my blood and this is something I know I have to do but, writing novels has become something I want to do because I've found another talent; being able to create characters.
3. What genres do you write in? Reason?
My genres are first and foremost poetry because I have found that I can express my deepest concern and thoughts.
Next is children's books, Little David is my first picture book which will be in a series. The reason for this particular children's book was created from my own disabilities. Not being about to get around without pain was something that has taken me some years to get use too. Then I thought about children with physical limitations and the depression they must go through not being able to play and run around like other children. That is quite a mental adjustment to live with and hence Little David was created. This character can't walk but, through the help of his mother and sister he has learned to be happy with his life. Children with limitations and those that don't have any, must be made to feel special and important and most of all loved by those who take care of them whether it be the parents or teachers.
My third genre is fiction/non-fiction; I love being able to create characters on a normal level and in the science fiction arena I am working on three manuscripts that are out there on the ether plane. One has to do with a dream that came to life after going into a coma. This one could possibly be non-fiction. The second one is about thousands of people turning; sorry I can't give that one away. My third sci-if novel has to do with a strange light that does some awful thing within a community.
4. What do you hope a reader takes away from your writing?
First I want people to think. Most of my poetry is food for the mind. Second I would like the reader to take away a sense of adventure and a knowing that in the end everything will always work out. Sometimes we can get in some serious situations that seem like there is no escape but, we have to realize Father God will always make a way for His children if we just have faith and believe.
5. Are you traditionally published or self-published? What determined your publishing decision?
I am a self-published author and would love to get published traditionally. What made me self-publish my children's book was doing my own illustrations. I felt that I knew what I wanted and no one could see inside the mind of my characters. When I did research on children's publishers they would want my story but, they had their own illustrators and at the time that didn't set well with me.
6. If you could have lunch with one person--dead or alive, who would it be? Why?
I would love to have lunch with Mya Angelou because I have always admired her as a strong poet.
7. If you were given one specific wish with your writing (no, it cannot be general like-make me a best selling author), what would it be?
I would love to be given the opportunity to read my Little David picture books in elementary schools all across the country so that I can touch the hearts of not only the physically challenged but, all children. I want to be able to tell them they are special, loved and their lives are important to Father-God.
8. If you had to compare yourself to another writer, who would it be?
I would not compare myself to anyone else because I love being me and no one else has my style and creative flair.
9. What books do you have in print now? Where are they available?
I have in print Show A Little Love co-authored adult novel can be purchased online at LuLu, http://www.lulu.com/content/101218. Little David children's picture book, Truth In Rhyme, poetry keys for the Moorish thinking mind. God Cares For You, spiritual poetry. These books are available online at my LuLu Storefront: http://www.lulu.com/RuthsBooks
10. Best selling author or Literary recognition (Pulitzer, Nobel)? Which would you choose?
I would choose literary recognition (Pulitzer)
Visit Ruth on the web @http://www.lulu.com/RuthsBooks. And remember, you heard it here first!

I'm so excited! And I just can't hide it....
Wow! 3 days to one of the biggest events in my life--The Mississippi Best Awards! I received notification that I'm being award the "Most Likely to Succeed" award for my persistence and hard work. Kinda cool, huh? We'll have to wait to see who wins the Big Guns, LOL.
I'm also excited about meeting the Project Runway designers Micheal Knight, Angela Kesslar, Daniel Franco, Zulema, and Kara Saun. I'm in heaven since I've watched them every--and I do mean ev-e-ry--season. I'm hooked on the show. So, I WILL get pics with them and will post them here!

Don't Overlook the Online Reader's Groups
I recently previewed my work in the Book Nibbler Reader’s Community, http://www.booknibbler.homestead.com. The response was quite positive. I recouped my investment—$10—and then some. I even received positive feedback from new fans. Not a bad return any way you look at it. Shades of Romance Magazine, http://www.sormag.com,
was another great experience at an economical cost.
So, when considering where to place those advertising dollars, don’t forget to consider these “jewels in the rough.” They are growing.
Peace out.

Whirlwind life
I also just last night revealed my NEW and IMPROVED website! www.sydneymolare.com and don't forget to check out the video. It tells you all about my works in a nutshell.
With all this going on, my creative juices are flowing! I'm working on my next novel, Loving Ellaween. It's another Southern fiction surrounding one of those vivacious steel magnolias we are known to produce. If I can write it like it's swimming around in my head...this ought to be one you don't want to miss! The premise is a 65 YO grandmother that has a heart attack in the midst of doing IT. Yep, I've got some imagination!
Stay tuned...or I'll catch you napping.
Peace out.

Adventures In Advertising
I just posted the email below in some of my writers groups about what I discovered about the advertising game--and that's what it is, a numbers game. In researching advertising rates within the writing community, I now understand the Caveat Emptor statement. It's true--buyer, or writer, beware. All the "great" deals AREN'T deals at all. Anywho, take a moment to read and of course, send feedback! Smooches.
Good People,
Having been one that has made plenty of mistakes in this publishing game, I had to share what I've learned about advertising. First though, I want to say, I've done my share of advertising. $250/month ads, even signed on and got some for $150-200 if I got them for 3 months and I did--paid over time like a layaway and everything supposedly focused for readers of AA literature. Shoot, I never recouped the cost of the advertising. Did this over and over and finally I started looking for better alternatives. I mean, how long can you throw money behind the same ad and it still yields no sales, right? Like I said, I've paid my advertising dues.
NOW, what I've discovered is...if you go "beyond" your present boundaries, there is a whole 'nother advertising cost scale. Shoot, I just paid $12 for a 4 month banner ad. Then another author told me about another reader/writer site and I paid $25 for a year of advertising. Got me a webpage, book stays up all year and I'll be a featured author. AND I've found oodles of other sites that do the same thing. I mean, $10 - $15 (even at 1 month, this is a steal) shoot off an announcement/ interview/ feature spot to their hundreds of members and wahlah! You've got sales! And heck, I don't need but 1.5 of any title sold to recoup the cost.
I'm not saying that the $250 a month is a bad price...I'm just saying, you have options.
Lesson complete. Have a great night.
Syd
Peace out.

My, how the time flies!
I've had some great news in the MY bookworld:
First off, Devil's Orchestra is still getting rave reviews. That makes me very, very proud.
Secondly, my story "Overhaul" did make it into the first edition of Caramel Flava, edited by Zane. I'm on page 230. That's 230.
Thirdly, Satisfy Me, which includes my novella "Her Wildest Fantasy" has a definite drop date of Dec 26, 2006. AND I just received a contract for the second one. I'm gonna wedge this door open a little wider and give them a full length novel in a minute.
And yep, looks like I'm doing a little touring again. I kick it off Oct 6 - 8 at the Marvelously Mature Weekend in Dallas, Tx. This event is hosted by Evelyn Paltry and I expect to have a blast. Grandmama's Mojo Still Working will be my headliner for that event.
Mid Oct finds me in Jackson at the Jackson Mississipp Reader's Club monthly meeting. Devil's Orchestra will play a ghoulish host for this event.
Oct 28 is my double-header day. I'm in Collins, MS for a booksigning from 10 - 2 followed by, going home, getting gussied up, and attending the Mississippi Best Awards, where I'll be up for Best Author- fiction.
November 9-11, I'm on the road again. Detroit, MI this time for the Motown Writers Conference. I hope to meet up and greet all those wonderful women writers I've been conversing with. It's time!!!!!
Well, that's it for now. I'll post more as my schedule unveils itself!

Schools Out
During this time, of course I will be promoting and selling my behind parts off. I'm actually targeting church congregations with my latest, Devil's Orchestra. I just send them a flyer, asking them to post it on the bulletin board and list the bookstores that are carrying it in their town. Sales are brisk.
Take care and keep on reading and writing.

Promotions! Promotions! Promotions!
Devil's Orchestra definitely stretched my imagination...as well as scared the pants off me! Yes, sometimes I just had to stop writing because I was afraid I was thinking about the Devil too much. Didn't want him to put me in his crosshairs and I unconsciously "channel" him up. Somehow, I pushed forward and my masterpiece was birthed.
So if you love spicy fiction with a Christian undertone, pick up Devil's Orchestra. It will definitely leave you saying, "Hmmmm...."

Hello, hello, hello!!!
I've been very busy getting Devil's Orchestra ready for release. I held back a bit because Grandmama's Mojo Still Working suddenly got hot, hot, hot! I submitted it for a NAACP Image Award so I've got my fingers crossed. By anywho, Devil's Orchestra will be out in just a smidgen.
I'm not touring yet this year. I'm too busy to get through the regular grind to add flying, driving and book registrations on top of it all. Sometimes you've just got to let things go...so I did.
Y'all take care and I'll hit you back soon.
