Don't Overlook the Online Reader's Groups

In our efforts to get our books in the hands of a larger readership, there is one area that has been keenly overlooked—the online reader’s sites. These sites may be in their infancy, but more are cropping up daily. Not only have I found these sites to economical for authors—from free to $40—the exposure has been a wonderful cross-promotional opportunity for me. It’s a quick way to introduce my work to fans I already have, pick up new fans who have never heard of my works, and many of these readers are avid book buyers. In addition, I don’t have to sell a large volume to cover the costs. In most cases, if I sell one or two books, my costs are totally recouped.

I recently previewed my work in the Book Nibbler Reader’s Community, http://www.booknibbler.homestead.com. The response was quite positive. I recouped my investment—$10—and then some. I even received positive feedback from new fans. Not a bad return any way you look at it. Shades of Romance Magazine, http://www.sormag.com,
was another great experience at an economical cost.

So, when considering where to place those advertising dollars, don’t forget to consider these “jewels in the rough.” They are growing.

Peace out.

You are so right. Even the exposure from newsletters and folks websites are good resources too.

Very true, Rose. I've been more than pleased at the response. You never know WHO reads your work once you put it out there.
