Reader reactions....LOL!
Have you ever gotten an email with a SQUEAL inside? I mean where the email author was SO excited about reading something you wrote you literally felt the paper squeal!
I got one of those emails about i want it now. This reader was totally enamored with Dubois in You've Got Male. Talk about making my day! Honestly, EVERYONE is in love with this talk stick of licorice with an accent...including Moi. LOL.
But I do understand. He was created to be "The Total Male Package"...and the response to him: phenomenal. Okay, I'm getting the shakes thinking about him come to life...anywho, if you haven't picked up a copy, get yours today. No one has been disappointed yet...

Author Reflection on the times....
From being in the writing biz since ~2002, I've seen many changes in this world. So, here are some things I think might be extinct within <5 years:
1. Paperback book costing >$7
2. ANY book not available for instant download
3. Brick and mortar bookstores
4. Bookstore signings
5. Book tours that aren't cybertours.
Why? Look at the rapidly changing landscape, folks. Big name book chains are folding, we are a culture of instant gratification and let's face it, not many people come out to bookstore signings, so why invest hundreds or thousands for less or equal return? Evenually the numbers (depleted pockets) will keep you at home :(.
If you think I'm out in left field, let me know!

No Happily Ever After ???
Can you have good romance if there isn't a "happily ever after?"
I ask this since I had one reviewer not like the last story in "i want it now" because it didn't clear up an "issue" for her. Honestly, from her comments, I definitely got the feeling that a FEMALE polygamist wasn't game in her book. No matter how many menage-a trois and adulterous affairs we write and get women to fantasize about, put the shoe on the other foot and all HECK NAW TO THE MAX breaks out! LOL.
But, I LOVE to push the envelope and stretch out comfort zones...one delicious word at a time...maybe she'll get the point after a while? Hmmmm :)

Do YOU Want it now? LOl

i want it now!
Wow! What do you do when things go better than you ever dreamed? Scream, holler, shout and in my case, do a booty dance or two! LOl. No kidding!
Why am I a happy sistergirl? I've been reading the reviews and...They LIKE me! They LIKE me! (sotto Sally Fields voice)
Yes, Ms. Sydney is receiving 4/5 and 5/5 reviews for this baby! **cheesing here** My BEST start out the gate yet.
So....guess who is in a giving mood? MOI! :) I'll give a copy of i want it now to the FIRST person emailing me (sydneymolare@yahoo.com) with the correct answer to this:
In "Fiending For It" what is the name that Chaz and Elena give their sexual excursion?
The time starts NOW!

"I knew I had to stab this bitch in her chest."
That first line alone usually makes folks stop in their tracks. LOL.
I had a great time doing this anthology with Literary Wonders. My story, The Snow Globe, tends to elicit such a deep reaction in women. Probably because we've all wanted to "Snow Globe" a man...or two...in our lives. But here it is in it's entirety. And hope you guys will pick up a copy of this anthology. The writing is righteous.
Some days it just doesn’t pay to be the “other woman”…
especially when the wife shows up.

Wow, how the industry is changing....
Nothing ever stays the same. Change is always coming, ready or not.
I marvel at how the publishing industry has changed in just the past 5 years. From traditional houses and larger authors trashing self-published authors using print on demand (POD) to finding out POD isn't too bad. In fact, POD has even been "upgraded" euphemistically to "hybrid publishing". Afterall, you can't trash it then embrace it later, can you?
I even remember when people scoffed at ebooks. "Who the heck is gonna read a book online?" I dunno. Let's ask supersuccessful Ellora's Cave, Whiskey Creek, etc.
But the bottom line, those self-published, determined, renegades authors HAVE made significant inroads into the traditional publishing houses pockets. And they finally took notice.
Folks, your gut tells you the truth. If you have a hunch, jump on it then plan to ride the wave until you see something happening.
Remember the writer's trinity: Patience, Persistence and Pushing.
Peace out.

Are you being YOU or them?
How many times have you been asked: So, who do you write like?
Irritating, I know. But the fact is, agents and publishers tend to have the sheep effect: If this one works, others just like it should follow the same path. They want more of what’s selling and if you aren’t it, many times you get the old rejection letter. And by the time you decide to play the game their way, giving the length of time between acceptance and actual publication, the market may be saturated. And that transmits into not so stellar sells. Which means you may not meet your advance, which in turn, translates into: Thanks but no thanks the second time around or you are pigeon-holed into a genre and can’t get you agent to “buy into” another genre.
Sometimes it seems like you can’t win, huh.
I was totally unaware of this phenomenon when I began writing. But I’ve since learned it’s a classic question from agents and publishers. Expect it.
I realized early on I wanted to write in any genre I chose. Was I a hard “fit” for an agent? Sure. But I kept writing and publishing in various venues and soon, I had a following. People always knew, they never knew what to expect from me. I’ve written short stories, mystery/suspense (my favorite), erotica, quasi-Christian and mainstream. Bottom line, I write what I’d like to read in a novel. And if that “like” takes me down a different path than my last book, so be it.
You authentic voice makes you stand out from the homogenous crowd. It makes a new reader take notice and cruise the net for your other works. It validates your soul when you get the email stating, “This novel is so different from the rest!” Blush. Blush.
I feel that as a writer, taking chances in your writing style is a good thing. The “sheep” may not notice it right away, but stay true to yourself. Eventually, “they” will get it and come calling.
Hopefully, the next time the question is asked, “So, who do you write like?” You can respond, “Me.”
See how many other folks have your name! There is only 1 Sydney Molare...as it should be!

I AM a woman....
Many people always send me letters beginning, Dear Mr. Molare. I chuckle, get over myself and find out what the letter is about. My gender in the writing world has never been a big issue to me....in the past.
However, after hearing Michelle Obama on Monday night, I am claiming and proclaiming my womanhood, feminity, uterus/uteri, Fallopianness from mountain to valley, hilltop to ditch: I AM WOMAN!!!!!!!
Wow, that woman came with it or like they say in church, she showed up and showed out. Now that the kind of "stand by your man" stuff I can and will work with--positivity, mutual support, and the love of family just shined through.
Ok, enough about the Family Obama of which I am a fan, let's apply this to our writing world. Too many "toxic love" books out there folks. Authors we must take responsibility and realized that continuing to peddle women seeking free loving from misognystic--but fine as hell--dudes is destructive. Destructive to a woman's psyche, self-esteem and ultimately our existance.
Now how about we "flip the script" and write about a Family Obama and their married folks loving and dealing with real life versus the hit it and run off/absentee daddy? Wouldn't that be sexy as hell to find a married couple that's still hot for each other as when they first hooked up, despite the hoolihoos trying to holler and offer up the free pootitang? Wouldn't that be so cool for the wife to not only not allow herself to be in a position of "being the last to know" but to have her game (meaning her modus operandi) so tight hubby can't see past his buffet. Can't speak for you, but I'm getting horny talking about it.
Anyway, I must say again, Michelle Obama, you inspire me. Barack, I sure hope you understand and realize what you DO have. Authors, let's give this a shot, k?
Peace out.

Haters...
I've mentioned before about haters, author jealousy, the entire spectrum of keeping another person down simply because you lack what they have. Then I ran across this piece which has been attributed to Dr. Maya Angelou (haven't confirmed) on another board and had to post it, because it is very, very fitting in my mind. So to all you haters out there....Enjoy!
'HATERS', BY MAYA ANGELOU (Deep!)
A hater is someone who is jealous and envious and spends all their time trying to make you look small so they can look tall. They are very negative people to say the least. Nothing is ever good enough! When you make your mark, you will always attract some haters...
That' s why you have to be careful with whom you share your blessings and your dreams, because some folk can't handle seeing you blessed...
It's dangerous to be like somebody else...
If God wanted you to be like somebody else, He would have given you what He gave them! Right? You never know what people have gone through to get what they have...
The problem I have with haters is that they see my glory, but they don't know my story...
If the grass looks greener on the other side of the fence, you can rest assured that the water bill is higher there too!
We've all got some haters among us! Some people envy you because you can:
1. Have a relationship with God
2. Light up a room when you walk in
3. Start your own business
4. Tell a man / woman to hit the curb (if he / she isn't about the right thing)
5. Raise your children without both parents being in the home
Haters can't stand to see you happy .
Haters will never want to see you succeed .
Haters never want you to get the victory .
Most of our haters are people who are supposed to be on our side.
How do you handle your undercover haters? You can handle these haters by:
1.Knowing who you are & who your true friends are *(VERY IMPORTANT!!)
2.Having a purpose to your life. Purpose does not mean having a job. You can have a job and still be unfulfilled. A purpose is having a clear sense of what God has called you to be. Your purpose is not defined by what others think about you.
3. By remembering what you have is by divine perogative and not human manipulation. Fulfill your dreams! You only have one life to live...when its your time to leave this earth, you want to be able to say, 'I've lived my life and fulfilled my dreams,... Now I'm ready to go HOME! '
When God gives you favor, you can tell your haters, 'Don't look at me...Look at Who is in charge of ME'
Watch out for Haters...... ......... .....BUT most of all don't become a HATER!
'A woman's heart should be so hidden in Christ that a man should have to seek Him first to find her.' Maya Angelou
'People fear what they don't understand, I understand what I don't fear..'--lukrativ
' Tact is for those not witty enough to use sarcasm.'

Loving Me!
I recently read a list entitled: Reasons why Black Men won't date Black Women. It was NOT nice...and then we wonder why our relationships aren't getting stronger. We keep feeding into this type of BS. You know, I've NEVER seen a why other races don't date their own races list...except for African Americans. This self-destruction doesn't make sense folks!
So, this new list was posted that I thought was definitely wonderful.... Hope you enjoy it like I did...OK, I've vented.
25 THINGS BROTHERS SHOULD BE SAYING TO SISTERS
1) I love you
2) I just called to hear your voice.
3) Is there anything I can do to make things better?
4) You look nice today.
5) Did you lose some weight?
6) You complete me.
7) I missed you.
8) No matter what happens, we will get through this together.
9) Our kids just don't know how lucky they are to have you as a mother.10) Enjoy your night out with the girls.
11) I'm sorry.
12) You did a good job.
13) I need you.
14) If that's what you really want to do, I'm behind you all the way.
15) I'm proud of you.
16) Let's go out tonight.
17) God must have spent a little more time on you.
18) Whenever you're frustrated, depressed, confused or feeling that thewhole world is closing in on you, remember that I'm here for you.
19) I'll take the kids with me; you need a break.
20) You were right; I was wrong.
21) I trust you.
22) Did you make an appointment to get a mammogram and Pap smear?
23) I don't care what anyone says, I know i couldn't have done itwithout you.
24) Thank you for being the woman that you are.
25) If they turned the clocks back, I'd marry you all over again.
Making a woman feel like a woman and reassuring her that she's yourwoman are the most powerful ingredients in an incandescent loverelationship.Remember Brothers, there is extraordinary power in the spoken word.So if you have a woman in your life who has changed your life, then startto speak up!

Purple Panties
For those who don't know, I'm in Purple Panties, the lesbian erotica collection edited by Zane. It was part of that "expansion of an author's mind", stretching your writing boundaries, stepping outside your comfort zone I'm always spouting. Since I didn't have any real life experience, I had to depend upon my imagination. ..and it garnered me a spot in the first anthology.
And let me say this, I am PROUD to be in it. I have never read such good ass erotica in one book before. These chicks wrote their asses off! I'm not a lesbian, but my partner has been one happy dude after reading each and every story. I'm telling ya'll, these women have made me step up my erotic game. Bland, spicy, voyeur or blatant, they come with it!!!!!
But do you guys know how controversial this book has become? It's been removed from a number of book sites, deleted from bookclub discussions, etc., with the claim of it being offensive to some members. Heck, EVERYTHING is offensive to somebody. I had to send off a letter expressing my freedom to express just like they had.
But nevertheless, I do hope you'll pick up a copy.
Smooches!

WHO IS THAT?
That's the questions many folks--a lot I already know well--are asking when I meet them again. Usually, it's the "she looks familiar but I can't place her" confused look...then blam! they're like, "It's You!"
Of course it is. It got to the point where i had to reassess my own self. Do I not look like me anymore? Then I finally pinpointed things: I've become free again.
Really. After my mother's death, I refused to follow convention and be bound by other's rules. I began living like I truly wanted to--dating on a whim with whomever, cutting ties where they should have been cut years before, traveling, not suffocating my 17YO and letting him grow into his own manhood...just living life like I've got only a little bit of time left. I very, very happy right now. I guess it's showing.
PLUS I am using this dermalastyl. At $150 per 2 ounce bottle, it ought to be good. Anywho, I thought I looked below my age before, I'm getting the you must be her younger sexy, sister comments....so I've managed to shave a few more years off.
So my thought for the day: Let go and let God. Do what you want to do that doesn't hurt others, but live life for yourself.
With that, I'm outta here!
